South Dakota HUNT
Rifle Mule Deer Hunts
Our South Dakota Rifle Mule Deer Hunting is nothing short of World Class. We have have over 150,000 acres of private ranches in Central South Dakota. These ranches are located West of Pierre, South Dakota on and near the Cheyenne and Bad Rivers. Our clients consistently kill bucks scoring 160-180”, and hunters should expect to see 15-30 bucks per day. We run 90-100% harvest rate with rifle hunters on these hunts. This is an incredibly easy hunt physically; however, hunters should be prepared to shoot approximately 200-400 yards and weather conditions can be inclement at times. These are primarily spot and stalk type hunts and hunters can expect to do lots of glassing. The rifle Mule Deer permits are obtained through a draw process. The first drawing for these tags is in mid April and is called the West River Special Buck drawing. This is a private land only landowner sponsored drawing. This Special Buck tag can sometimes be drawn the first year applying but typically it takes an average of 1-2 years to draw the tag. There is a second drawing in July for West River Deer general tags. These are county specific and species specific tags. These tags will take on average 2-3 year to draw and landowner sponsorship is not required. We do handle the applications for hunters who are booked with us on these hunts. These hunts are hotel based hunts with all meals and lodging included. Hunters can fly directly into Pierre, South Dakota and we will pick them at the airport. Hunters can also fly into Rapid City or Sioux Falls, South Dakota however they will need to rent a vehicle and drive to Pierre.
